STATE SCIENCE FAIRS

Program Description
State of Florida Science & Engineering Fair Summer Intern
This program is designed to have qualified KSC engineers and scientists serve as science fairs judges, who will demonstrate technical expertise, knowledge, and encouragement to students. A summer internship award is presented to a graduating Florida high school senior based on an outstanding project directly related to NASA’s overall missions, programs, and activities, and a personal interview. The award recipient works full-time for eight weeks during the summer at KSC, gaining valuable experience while earning an income.


Program Goal
This program provides quality Kennedy Space Center (KSC) scientist and engineers to serve as judges who will demonstrate technical expertise, knowledge, and encouragement to students. Also this program will present a summer internship award at KSC to one graduating senior. Lastly it is also the goal of the KSC scientist and engineers to provide a platform to students to interact with NASA judges for their career planning.


Eligibility
• The KSC award is open to all Florida State Science Fair winners who have applied for the internship. Award recipient must:
• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Be at least 16 years old and possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
• Have a strong interest and aptitude for a career in math, engineering or science
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Have accepted or actively seeking entrance into a college or university
• Live within a 50-mile radius of KSC

How to Apply
State Science and Engineering Fair winners have projects that previously placed at local competitions. Applications are provided by Florida State Science Fair member upon registration at the state science fair site.

Deadlines
The Florida Foundation of Future Scientists must contact the NASA Education Office contact below, in writing, as soon as the date and site are determined.

Schedule
Competitions are held in spring, dates and sites determined by the Florida Foundation of Future Scientist.
