KSC Education Outreach Opportunities

Description

The KSC Education Outreach Program provides teachers within a 50-mile radius of KSC with the tools to reach and inspire their students. We seek to capture young people’s interest in science, engineering, mathematics and technology. Over 200 KSC employees volunteer to share their knowledge and experience with teachers and students annually.

  • Career Day Speaker
    • NASA/KSC employee volunteers share space-related career information with students.
  • Interview
    • NASA/KSC employee participate in interviews for students seeking information via phone, Email, or in-person.
  • Science Fair Judge
    • NASA/KSC employee volunteers serve as judges of student projects at Elementary, Regional and State level Science Fairs.
  • National Engineers Week
    • KSC's observance of National Engineers Week is a voluntary education outreach activity when civil service and contractor engineers and other aerospace employees visit K-12 schools within 50 miles of KSC to engage and help improve student interest in engineering, technology, science, and mathematics, which may lead to increased enrollment figures in the engineering fields.

Eligibility

  • School must be within 50 mile radius of KSC
  • Topics KSC speakers can support include: various engineering careers, Space Shuttle, Expendable Launch Vehicles, and International Space Station.

How To Apply

If you are an educator at a school within a 50 mile radius of KSC and wish to request a speaker for a Career Day, to supplement a space-related lesson, or judges for your science fair, please submit a request via the Outreach Request form ( HTML or PDF). Mail or Fax the form to the contact below.
