Program Description
NASA Explorer Schools is a pipeline initiative
that promotes and supports Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math (STEM) ‘national and state
school standard’ programs using NASA content
in classrooms for 4th through 9th grades. This
program also brings together educators, administrators,
students and families in sustained involvement
with NASA's education programs.
Program Goal
To provide professional development of teachers
that will involve their students in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics explorations
plus encourage the use of scientific tools and
methods thus inspiring the young people to pursue
a STEM career.
Eligibility
School demographics for an eligible school consists
of: (1) Minority students total greater than
50%; (2) Title 1 school; (3) Student poverty
rate greater than 40%; (4) Rural or urban location;
and, (5) Accredited public or private school.
