Program Description
NASA’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive
Research (EPSCoR) supports states with modest
research infrastructures so that they may develop
more competitive research capabilities within
their member academic institutions. The ten
NASA participating states are Alabama, Arkansas,
Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska,
Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and South Carolina.
Program Goal
The goals of this opportunity are to mobilize
leaders to build a science and technology enterprise,
strengthen academic research, develop human
resources, enhance technology and economic development,
and build public support for a science and technology
enterprise.
Eligibility
Only the designated states may compete. Each
NASA center has identified its research areas
of interest and the states may propose to use
grant funding in these areas. A research compendium
at the website
(http:www.nasa.gov/audience/foreducators/postsecondary/grants/Epscor.html)
catalogs the complete NASA research compendium.
How to Apply
NASA Headquarters issues the announcement of
opportunity and states will apply for the grants
directly to NASA HQ.
