Programs and Opportunities for Faculty and Post-Docs

Programs/Opportunities
Faculty Awards for Research (FAR)
The Faculty Award for Research (FAR) Program is the umbrella for Individual Principle Investigator Awards for Research. These programs were developed to increase the number of socially and economically disadvantaged and disabled students receiving advanced degrees and entering into careers in NASA-related fields. Recipients of these awards will be able to enhance their research capabilities through interaction with NASA researchers and faculty.

Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR)
NASA's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) is designed to support states with modest research infrastructure to become more competitive in attracting research funding. The goal of NASA EPSCoR is to develop academic research enterprises that are long term, self-sustaining, and nationally competitive for non-EPSCoR dollars.

Pre-Service Teachers Institute (PSTI)
The PSTI is a two week residential workshop. The purpose of this program is to increase students skills in teaching mathematics and science, while incorporating technology in their curriculum. This is achieved through the development of a problem-based learning (PBL) aerospace theme. Strong NASA content will be implemented throughout. As the hosting institution, the University of Central Florida (UCF) will provide faculty to teach the PBL technique during specific sessions of the program. The entire two-week curriculum will be coordinated with the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Educator Resource Center (ERC) staff.
